She’s an amazing worker and a friend to all. Today we want to take the time to recognize Stacey and the incredible person she is.
Stacey Peters is a force to be reckoned with. Stacey has been working with Crave for 15 years. She started as working the front desk and is now the Senior Director of Crave. Stacey has worked hard in her career for Crave and deserves to be recognized for it.
Stacey’s Story
Stacey wanted to become a cosmetologist ever since she was young. “I love to write poetry and short stories. I never wanted to publish them but I have always loved the creative outlet it gave me, and I knew that cosmetology would do that for me.” When Stacey was in high school she didn’t take any art classes, “all of my electives were science classes. I was a huge science nerd. So much so that I was rewarded a recognition from NASA for a project that I did. Everyone was telling me that I should pursue a career in science, but that’s not what I wanted! They would tell me, ‘you’re too smart to work as a stylist’ and that hurt. But I listened to them. When I was 17 I graduated high school with plans to move to California to become a marine biologist because that’s what I was ‘supposed to do.’ Right before I left for California I made the decision to live for myself. So I canceled my plans and put myself through cosmetology school.”
Two years later, Stacey graduated with her Associate’s degree and her cosmetology license. After receiving her license, Stacey immediately starting working in a salon, and this is when her career began. After working in a salon for two years, Stacey began traveling with a salon as an instructor. From there, she became the manager of a salon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. After managing the salon for seven years, Stacey, her husband, and daughter moved to Nebraska. “I really wanted to get back in a salon. That’s when I met Kim. She’s been with me ever since. I owe everything to her.” Stacey started working the front desk at Crave and instructing classes. “I got to teach again, which I love! It’s that moment when you can see it click for a student. That, ‘I get it!’ moment. It’s those moments that I love.” Fifteen years later, Stacey moved from the front desk to Senior Director.
Crave’s Anniversary Ring
Crave gifts a ring once an employee has been with us for ten years. We then place one diamond in the ring after 15 and another diamond at the 20-year mark. We love gifting this to our employees to show our appreciation for their dedication and hard work. Here is Stacey repping her 15-year anniversary diamond ring. We can’t wait for her 20th anniversary!
Why Choose a Life of Cosmetology?
When choosing a career, there is an endless list to choose from. Somewhere in that neverending list is cosmetology. So why should someone choose to work as a cosmetologist? Stacey has the answer. “I believe wholeheartedly that this is an amazing profession. I moved to three different states, and I knew I could get a position anywhere. There’s also so much room for growth. You don’t just have to stand behind a chair. There’s so many outlets that you can travel down. We’re recession resilient. You can always depend on this career to be able to support yourself while you express yourself.”
Stacey’s Advice
Stacey has been through it all. She knows exactly what it feels like to start from the bottom and work to the top. When asked what advice she wants to give to everyone reading this she said, “Always listen to yourself. If you want to do something, then do it. I wouldn’t be where I was today if i listened to people tell me I was too smart to be a stylist. We’re not what you think we are. We are resilient.”
